Once you get the intuition of how they function, you can start chewing through enemy fleets. I recommend making a save as you approach an island with enemy ships, and spend an hour or so using that save as a sandbox to hone your torpedo skills. It is essentially your only anti-ship weapon, as the CIWS on enemy ships decimates missiles and aircraft. Adjust the activation delay as necessary given distance. Torpedoes are tracking, which means that they are fire and forget. You can adjust the bearing and see this change in real time. When the torpedoes are armed, you will see a little red line on your torpedo radar. Your launchers are located on the rear of the ship, two on each side. Torpedoes can appear confusing at first, but are actually really easy. Felt stupid realizing this after constantly redrawing circles every minute for my observation bird. They will be linked and you will see a little loop icon. You can set up an aircraft in a loop by creating at least 3 waypoints, and when placing the last one, drag it until the first waypoint is highlighted. However, you now have a birds eye view and can easily snipe things with your carrier missiles. Cycle to its camera (by selecting it and pressing R on the vehicle control screen, then cycling to the observation camera by pressing 2), then you can manually control it just like the carrier scope. This was perhaps the biggest early game changer for me, and it is not even explained that you can do this through the tutorial.įor example: Set up an albatross with a camera and a few missiles/guns for backup, and establish it in a orbit pattern around the island you're taking.
